Atlas bimetallic transition couplings are robust, metallurgically bonded dissimilar metal joints used to weld dissimilar metal tubes or pipes.
Atlas bimetallic transition fittings enable the direct coupling of dissimilar metal tubes and pipes. The fittings are used in cryogenic lines, aerospace and other thermal transfer applications where contrasting heat transfer is needed.
Engineered to withstand typical welding temperatures and bonded to minimize porosity and maximize strength, the fittings are suitable for use in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV). They are also used in nonmagnetic and nuclear applications where the properties of one metal must be reliably switched to that of another.
Bonds of some custom materials are suitable for operation with liquid helium but a minimum wall thickness of 0.30” must be maintained. Please consult with Atlas engineering for specific guidance.
